Randy Bateman practices in the areas of real estate, corporate law and commercial finance. He was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, 1981, to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, 1984, and is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, Washington State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Multnomah County Bar Association.

His commercial real estate practice involves representing both in-state and out-of-state lenders on major financing transactions, the development of both standard form leases and operating agreements for multi-tenant commercial developments, the representation of developers in connection with shopping center developments, build-to-suit leases, and complex purchase and sale transactions. Additionally, Randy has had extensive experience in tax-deferred exchanges and has served as local counsel for real estate investment trusts.
Randy's practice involves serving as outside counsel for medium-sized manufacturing and distribution companies, as well as counsel to a large variety of medium-to-small-sized businesses. The general counsel work has involved advice to clients concerning labor and employment matters, distribution agreements, corporate policy and maintenance, investment planning, and merger and acquisition work.
Working for a large public utility and a private energy developer, Randy also has expertise in wind energy development. This work includes project siting, lease negotiations, and project acquisitions.
Professionally, Randy has a commitment to the community and to the legal profession. He has served as an arbitrator for the Multnomah County Circuit Court, was a contributing author to the supplements and re-publications of the Oregon State Bar Real Property CLE (Continuing Legal Education) and is active in the Real Estate and Land Use Section of the Oregon State Bar. He has been a speaker for the Oregon Law Institute and the Oregon State Bar and a speaker and author in numerous privately sponsored education seminars on business and real estate issues. Randy was listed in every year since 2004 as one of the top business lawyers in the United States in Chambers USA America’s Leading Business Lawyers, was selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, identified by Portland Monthly as one of the top lawyers in the state and listed in Super Lawyers as a top attorney in Oregon. He is an active member of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and the Washington State Bar.
