Amanda is a litigator who is driven by client-focused advocacy coupled with exceptional legal knowledge and skill. Her clients trust her to listen to their needs and desired results and to offer them competent and realistic legal advice. Amanda represents a wide variety of clients including government agencies, financial institutions, small businesses, and individuals. Her practice focuses on business, commercial, contract, real estate, landlord-tenant, and construction disputes. She is licensed to practice in both Oregon and Washington state and federal courts.

Since joining Bateman Seidel in 2009, Amanda has resolved matters for national banks, state government entities, businesses, homeowners, and tenants including the following:

  • Successful prosecution in favor of international financial institution for payment of debt on California real estate development
  • Successful prosecution in favor of a creditor to collect debt owed to it by a multi-family housing developer
  • Successfully defended national investor/lender against general contractor claims for cost overruns from construction defects on Native American housing project
  • Obtained favorable court decisions for national banks in several wrongful foreclosure suits
  • Obtained dismissal of all claims by real estate agent against international bank involving a high-end golf and residential resort in Central Oregon
  • Successfully negotiated end of homeowners’ unlawful rental activities which violated certain Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions on the property
  • Represented an automobile dealership and successfully recovered a vehicle which was in the possession of a third party
  • Obtained preliminary injunction in favor of residential real estate purchaser to protect real estate sale proceeds from being released to seller who committed fraud
  • Prosecuted property damage and construction defect claims of owners of single-family homes and multi-family projects against contractors and design professionals
  • Successfully defended shareholder of closely held corporation in a nine-day trial (second chair) against claims of freezing out other shareholder
  • Defeated a regional bank’s attempt to judicially foreclose commercial property owned by timber company
  • Successfully defended Oregon airport authority in personal injury matters occurring on its premises

Amanda has also advised clients regarding the following:

  • State-regulated obligations of general contractors to homeowners
  • Contracts between general contractors and sub-contractors
  • Duties and responsibilities of directors and members of homeowners’ associations
  • Business formation, including business structure, state registration, and tax consequences for Oregon Limited Liability Companies and S-Corporations
  • The effect of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act on city land use ordinances for an Oregon city

Amanda also has a deep passion for individual rights under the U.S. and state Constitutions. She taught a 300-level college course at Willamette University entitled, “Gender, Sexuality, and the Law.” Amanda is also involved in domestic violence prevention and awareness. She represents clients pro bono through Legal Aid Services of Oregon’s Domestic Violence Project and supports Bradley Angle, a Portland-based domestic violence outreach non-profit.
